Theme Thursdays [Body Parts] – 14Jul11

Theme Thursdays

Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event that will be open from one thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:

  • A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
  • Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
  • Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
  • It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”

This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.

This week’s theme is

BODY PARTS (Hands, feet, fingers, waist etc)

Before I search my quote for this week, I wanted to get all of your thoughts on a suggestion made last week by a fellow blogger. Would it be beneficial if I published the themes earlier?? I was thinking maybe I could publish the themes at the first Thursday of each month for the entire month… Or do you prefer what we are doing now I.e the themes remain a suspense till that week. Do leave your thoughts in the comment…

My THURSDAY THEME for Body Parts is here.

Why else would you become a librarian if you didn’t love books? As if knowing what he was thinking, she paused and motioned to a shelf plaque with her finger.

  1. For me it kind of depends on how hard the theme is. For most I’ve participated in, it hasn’t been too difficult. Fireworks was one I had to work for, lol.

Good post for this week. Like the theme too. 🙂

  2. Love the theme, I had a hard time picking this week, but I think I’m happy with it: http://simpleloveofreading.blogspot.com/2011/07/theme-thursday-20.html

  3. It really dont make me any difference. I don’t see why you have to do it for a full month maybe while stating this week theme you can also give next week theme. so each week everyone will have a full week ahead of knowing the theme. i think this is good enough to start a free linky, are there any free ones

  4. Like your snippet – librarians and books very appropriate.

I like things the way they are. I enjoy the anticipation waiting to see what the week’s theme is and it makes me read more attentively, trying to remember passages that might be suitable for a theme. It’s a great meme – I enjoy it!

  5. It’s your meme and you should do it the way you want to do it. My preference would be to see the themes a little early because then I would probably jot down ideas from different books I am reading and come up with better themes.

    This was an easy one!

Bloggers: I will need to look at your themes after work tonight. I have to start early this morning. Have a great day and I’m looking forward to reading all your great stuff tonight.

    Belle

  7. Mine is here

I’d have to say it really doesn’t matter to me if you post it a month in advance or the night before. Either way is fine with me.

  8. I don’t mind having the theme come up every week. I like the surprise.
    Here’s my Thursday Theme

  9. Either way works for me…after all you give us a whole week to come up with our post. We don’t *have* to be able to post right away on Thursday morning.

Of course, after saying that, here I am at 8 am with my post :-). Earliest I’ve ever come up with one, I think–go me!

  10. Great theme! Mine is from Savor the Danger by Lori Foster…

I think you could even post them in advance by including next week’s theme in each Theme Thursday. So like this week was body parts, you could have include within the post that next week’s theme will be”…” if you don’t want to post them a month in advance. That may be easier to instead of thinking of them a month ahead. Hope this helps…

  11. I am new here, a first time player of the meme. Either way is fine with me.

  12. Either way works for me, this is my first week to play along with the meme.

  14. Hi Kavyen,
Love your snippet. Books, libraries, my two favorite things. Mine is posted at my place. Have a great day!

I like the surprise every week.

  15. Haven’t read anything by Sparks in quite a while.

My first time playing. Here’s my (slightly grisly) quote:

  16. I like the surprise too, but whichever you decide works for me.

  17. I don’t mind it the way you’re doing it. If I can’t easily find something, I often will just skip that week. I don’t think I’d be able to remember the upcoming themes as I’m reading anyway.

    Here’s mine: http://proudbooknerd.com/2011/07/14/theme-thursdays-body-parts/

  18. This is my first Theme Thursday, but I do enjoy the suspense!

    Here is mine: http://ashley–suzanne.blogspot.com/2011/07/theme-thursdays-body-parts.html

  19. It doesn’t matter either way to me, I do like the surprise every week, but if you wanted to do something else, I agree with others who say maybe post it a week in advance.

Here’s mine for this week: http://shellabelle-reads.blogspot.com/2011/07/theme-thursday-13.html

  20. I quite like getting a surprise each week 🙂

    This week from me: http://booksinthesun.blogspot.com/2011/07/theme-thursday-1407.html

  21. I too like a surprise each week. I think it makes it more fun!

  22. +JMJ+

Hi, Kavyen! I’m very, very late this week–but that’s because I didn’t find this great passage until yesterday. Here is the post I wrote up in a hurry and backdated for Thursday without shame:

    http://shreddedcheddar.blogspot.com/2011/07/jmj-themes-and-thoughts-read-themed.html

Thanks again for hosting this! It’s a really fun scavenger-hunt meme. =)

  23. +JMJ+

As for when to announce the theme, I see that the majority would rather be surprised. And I’m not surprised, because there is that fun scavenger hunt element to this meme! =)

PS — Your snippet reminds me that fingers are very useful when one is reading–whether it’s a print book or an e-book!
