Theme Thursdays [Place Description] – 24Nov11

Theme Thursdays

Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event that will be open from one thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:

  • A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
  • Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
  • Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
  • It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”

This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.

PLACE DESCRIPTION (Location / Place / Room description)

My THURSDAY THEME for PLACE DESCRIPTION is here. Surprisingly I found it in the very same page I read this night.

The enormous chamber in the sixteenth-century building was styled in rococo, with gilded scrollwork and Venetian mirrors. Not an inch of space was left undecorated.

The yah was not laid out like a typical European house, and my dressing room was not connected to the bedroom but attached to the hamam-like marble math on the ground floor.

  3. Very nice! I haven’t read this one by Alexander yet…it’s on the list.

  4. I like the sound of the building. This was a very easy one this week, but my snippet turned into a paragraph *sheepish grin*

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. Have just joined your meme Theme Thursdays. What I particularly like about this meme is that your themes can be attributed to the same book so when you’re time poor like me it doesn’t matter that I might be on the same book for a few weeks as each theme can have a different quote. Great blog. 🙂 http://scribeswindow.blogspot.com/2011/12/theme-thursdays-place-description.html
