Theme Thursdays [Smile] – 21Jul11

Theme Thursdays

Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event that will be open from one thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:

  • A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
  • Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
  • Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
  • It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”

This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.

This week’s theme is

SMILE (Laugh, Grin, Giggle, Guffaw, etc)

Thanks a zillion for your feedback last week. Since most of you mentioned that you like the surprise element, I will leave it as is. Occasionally, I think I will disclose the next week’s theme as well (on and off) .. With all the time in advance we will have even more challenging and interesting snippets.

My THURSDAY THEME for SMILE is here.

Delighted laughter rang out and then hushed. With the sound of seagulls calling, Joe and I exchanged promises to love and cherish through good days and bad, through sickness and heath, for as long as we both lived.

  1. Another great theme, and also a great post! I used to read this series, but haven’t read the last couple of books.

  8. I’ve only read two of James Patterson books, sounds like this one may be one I should think about reading.

  13. Now that is lovely and made me smile.

  14. I totally missed the whole discussion last week, lol. I’m probably in the minority in that I like getting themes earlier in the week so I have more time to find a good segment and get it scheduled when I have time. Usually if I don’t participate it’s cuz I was too busy to look up the theme.

My segment this time isn’t exactly a happy smile, it’s from Heresy by S.J. Parris.
